In the heart of Uganda’s rural farmlands, where agriculture is the lifeline of families and communities, Jane Nakku, a small-scale farmer and mother of four, has long struggled to make ends meet. For years, she relied on traditional farming methods, using low-quality seeds and limited resources. Her harvests were inconsistent, and she often faced financial hardship, unsure of how to improve her yields.

A Lifeline for Women Farmers

Everything changed when Jane learned about Edu Call Uganda, a transformative initiative providing female farmers with access to hybrid seeds, fertilizers, and insecticides through seed loans. Determined to improve her farm’s productivity, she enrolled in the program and received high-quality hybrid maize seeds, organic fertilizers, and training on modern farming techniques.

“The day I received my first package of hybrid seeds and fertilizers, I knew this was a new beginning,” Jane recalls with a smile. “Edu Call Uganda didn’t just give me inputs; they gave me knowledge and hope.”

From Struggles to Success

With guidance from Edu Call Uganda’s agricultural experts, Jane learned how to properly space her crops, apply fertilizers efficiently, and protect her farm from pests using environmentally friendly insecticides. In just one season, her maize harvest tripled compared to previous years.

“For the first time, I had enough food for my family and surplus to sell at the local market,” she says. “I used the extra income to pay school fees for my children and invest in poultry farming.”

Empowering Women, Transforming Communities

Jane’s success is just one of many stories that highlight the power of agricultural support programs for women. By providing seed loans and essential farming inputs, Edu Call Uganda is not only helping female farmers like Jane increase their crop yields but also improving food security and economic stability in rural communities.

Beyond the financial impact, Jane has gained confidence in her farming abilities and now mentors other women in her village. “We are no longer farming the old way,” she proudly states. “We are embracing modern methods, and we are seeing results.”

A Future of Growth and Possibilities

As Edu Call Uganda continues to expand its reach, more women like Jane will have access to the tools they need to succeed in agriculture. Through sustainable farming practices and financial empowerment, the project is paving the way for a future where every woman farmer can thrive.

“I am no longer just a farmer—I am a businesswoman, a provider, and a role model for other women in my community,” Jane says. “Thanks to Edu Call Uganda, my farm is my future.”
